From Farm to Family

Food insecurity is rising at an alarming rate, leaving millions across the United States uncertain about their next meal. That’s why in Chicago, TFO has partnered closely with dynamic local organizations such as the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) and Freight to Plate to create comprehensive, strategic solutions to attack the problem at its source. We’re growing the food ourselves. Through our innovative hydroponic pilot project at GCFD, we are increasing under-served populations’ access to healthy foods and fresh produce.

Hydroponics is reshaping agriculture by growing plants in nutrient-rich water rather than soil. This method allows for efficient use of space and resources, making it perfect for urban environments where land is scarce. It also supports continuous cultivation throughout the year, overcoming seasonal limitations and ensuring a steady supply of fresh produce.
